Congressman Mast’s comments about rape, murder, and pedophilia have various people near and far calling for his resignation. Veteran Craig Sawyer has called for his resignation stating in Florida Politics, “As a veteran who spends my life combatting child trafficking, I say [Mast’s] stance on sex with minors makes him unfit for office,” Sawyer said, before dubbing Mast a “Republican in name only” (RINO).
“He’s an example of the RINOs who sell us out, defy our Constitution [and] need to be replaced before [November].”Craig Sawyer is a Marine, Navy SEAL Sniper, having served with the elite SEAL Team Six, and Federal Law Enforcement Agent. Craig “Sawman” Sawyer has founded Veterans For Child Rescue Inc. (V4CR) and is dedicating his life to raising awareness about the epidemic of child sex trafficking, rescuing victims, and putting predators behind bars. V4CR is comprised of military professionals, former/current law enforcement, civilians, and those who are willing to do whatever it takes to end child trafficking in America now.

While most of us know her for her voice on clean water for all of Florida, many of us, including myself, were shocked to hear she is a rape victim who felt she had dealt with this violent crime that was perpetrated on her until Congressman Mast’s comments brought back a flood of emotions and memories she had tucked away. Nyla Pipes publicly revealed she was a rape victim for the first time after Mast’s comments surfaced. Nyla Pipes is clear, a U.S. Congressman that as an adult man, joked about rape, murder, and encouraged pedophilia to his good friend and now Campaign Manager, is not a person she holds in esteem and should not represent us in the United States Congress.

I may not be a close personal friend, but considered Brian a very good acquaintance who would always acknowledge each other with a friendly hello at functions or in the grocery store. Brian, I wish you well. I believe you regret your statements, but I do not think you should represent the people. Your views, as an adult married man, does not represent my family or me. I want to be proud of who represents us in Congress. I want my daughter to know there are men who appear to be dignified and in a trusting role, who will prey on 15-year-olds, and that it is never acceptable to joke about raping and murdering women. If I pass this off as just nasty comments, I am setting a bad example for her. To my fellow Republicans who are defending Brian’s comments, I ask you this. If Brian was a Democrat, would you still defend him in the same way, or would you call out to replace him with someone who is known for moral principles and ethics? This is not a partisan issue; it is not about voting Red or Blue; it is about voting for a person we can entrust with our children’s best interests, our elderly’s best interest, and all people in between. To defend this and sweep this under the rug is to accept the rape culture of “men will be men.” Don’t complain about “the swamp” if you are not willing to vote to drain it.
